Who are we?

Emounah Lodge #34 is a blue lodge working in the European, or Continental, tradition. We confer the first three degrees of Freemasonry: Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, and Master Mason, to women who choose to use the ritual and symbolism of Freemasonry as a path for spiritual growth and service to humanity.

We welcome women of all nationalities, races, and beliefs. If you are a seeker drawn to this path, we invite you to inquire about membership. Applicants must be at least 25 years old.

Our lodge is chartered under the Women’s Grand Lodge of Belgium (GLFB), #34, and we work in English.

Unlike some regular Masonic bodies in the United States, we do not require belief in a specific religious framework, and we welcome women of all beliefs, or none, who are drawn to the symbolism and self-work of the Craft.

Is Freemasonry a religion?
No. Freemasonry is not a religion, and it is not political. We do not discuss religion or politics in our meetings. It is a philosophical and symbolic practice that each member interprets through her own lens.

How is Emounah different from the Order of the Eastern Star or Co-Masonry?
Eastern Star is an appendant body traditionally open to both men and women with Masonic family connections. Co-Masonry admits men and women into the same lodges. Emounah is a lodge exclusively for women, working within the Continental tradition and chartered under the Women’s Grand Lodge of Belgium.
